COSPLAY COMPETITION

ELIGIBILITY AND REGISTRATION

  1. The contest is open to all Filipino cosplayers of all ages.
  2. Registration is on the actual event day , November 8, 2009 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 nn .
  3. To register, you must download the application forms here ( Solo | Group ) and sign up at the designated Cosplay registration area during the actual event day (November 8,2009 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 nn).
  4. Your completely filled-up application forms must also be presented with the following:
    1. Pictures of the character that you will cosplay
    2. At least one (1) valid ID (e.g. passport, school/office ID, TIN, SSS, driver’s license, postal ID, etc.) and one (1) photocopy of the ID you will be presenting
    3. A copy of the script/speaking lines you will be delivering onstage during the competition. We recommend that you send this to Level Up! at least a week before November 7 to give you enough time to revise, if necessary.
    4. If you are 17 years old and below, you are required to submit a waiver signed by your parent/guardian confirming that you have their consent to enter the contest. You may download the waiver template here.
  5. Only 100 participants can be accommodated for both the solo and group categories, so we encourage you to sign up as early as possible.

    IMPORTANT NOTE: Cut-Off time for registration is at 12:00 nn
CONTEST CATEGORIES
  1. Solo – one (1) participant per entry
  2. Group – minimum of three (3) and maximum of seven (7) individuals per entry
GENERAL GUIDELINES
  1. You may cosplay any characters from the following Level Up! games:
    • Ragnarok Online
    • Rohan Online
    • RF Online
    • Perfect World
    • Flyff
    • Crazy Kart
    • Grand Chase
  2. No corrosive or flammable substances are allowed. You may still use fake blood or confetti but please keep the clutter at a minimum. This is enforced to ensure the safety of everyone onstage.
  3. Microphones will be provided by the organizers.
  4. You may carry weapons that conform with the following:
    1. Real weapons are STRICTLY NOT ALLOWED. If you must carry a weapon, you can make it out of cardboard or wood. Please inform us on what weapon you will be bringing in for the contest.
    2. All props should be kept/carried with utmost caution. Level Up! will not be held responsible for any injury resulting from a participant’s negligence.
    3. Level Up! reserves the right to bar the use of props that is potentially dangerous/harmful.
    4. Profanity and rude gestures will not be tolerated onstage. Anyone who violates this rule will be automatically disqualified and permanently banned from all Level Up! cosplay competitions
    5. Judges’ decision is final and irrevocable.
    6. Level Up! may photography or film participants at its discretion. Entry into this contest constitutes an agreement by the entrants to allow Level Up! to use their likeness/image, etc in any current/future advertisement, promotion, or product.
    7. Level Up!’s employees, event suppliers, event partners and their relatives up to the second degree of consanguinity are disqualified from entering this contest
    8. By entering the competition, it is agreed that you have read, considered and concurred to all the mechanics and rules published on the Level Up! Live website. Lack of knowledge on the rules/mechanics will not be an excuse.
    9. SOLO CATEGORY
      1. Participants of the Solo Category are disqualified to join the Group Category.
      2. Only one (1) stagehand will be allowed per individual and must be cleared with the organizer prior to the actual competition. Your stagehand must wear black shirt only.
      3. Participants can only win one (1) of the six (6) major awards.
      4. All participants have the chance to win one (1) of the special prizes, regardless if you received a major award or not.
      5. Criteria for judging:
        1. ACCURACY – 30%
          - How closely your costume resembles that of the character you are cosplaying
        2. CRAFTSMANSHIP – 30%
          - Level of your creativity in assembling/constructing your accessories and props
        3. PRESENTATION – 30%
          - How well you presented/projected your character onstage
        4. AUDIENCE IMPACT – 10%
    10. GROUP CATEGORY
      1. A group cosplay participant can only join one (1) group. You will not be allowed to cosplay for another group even with only a minor role. You will also not be allowed to enter the Solo category.
      2. Only three (3) stagehands will be allowed per group and must be cleared with the organizer prior to the actual competition. Your stagehands must wear black shirt only.
      3. All groups will be required to perform a skit with a minimum length of 30 seconds and a maximum length of 5 minutes. Your group may present a play, dance, sing or a choreographed fight scene onstage. As mentioned, you must submit your script to the organizer before the competition. You will not be allowed to perform if your script is not approved by the organizer.
      4. Microphones will be provided by the organizer, but there will be no background music for your group’s skit. However, you may provide your own background music in audio CD format. Other formats will not be accepted. Please forward your audio CD to the organizer at least 3 hours before the program begins. Level Up! will not be held responsible for any inconvenience resulting from faulty recording or music medium.
      5. Criteria for judging:
        1. ACCURACY – 25%
          - How closely your costumes resemble that of the characters you are cosplaying
        2. CRAFTSMANSHIP – 25%
          - Level of your creativity in assembling/constructing your accessories and props
        3. PRESENTATION – 40%
          - How well your grouop presented/projected your characters onstage
        4. AUDIENCE IMPACT – 10%

      • Winners will be announced onstage during the Level Up! Live event. Winning individuals/groups will be briefed by the organizer on the process of claiming their prizes.
